Speed/Limit Terms of Service

Welcome to Speed/Limit. By downloading, installing, or using the Speed/Limit mobile application ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing and using Speed/Limit, you accept and agree to be bound by the terms and provision of this agreement. These Terms apply to all users of the App, including both free and premium subscribers.
2. Description of Service
Speed/Limit is a mobile application that:
- Monitors your vehicle speed using GPS
- Displays speed limit information from OpenStreetMap data
- Provides audible and visual alerts when exceeding speed limits
- Allows optional account-based contribution, leaderboard, and cloud sync features
- Offers premium features via auto-renewable subscription
3. Important Safety Disclaimer
Speed/Limit is an advisory tool only. You must:
- Always obey official road signs and local traffic laws
- Drive safely and maintain full attention to the road
- Never rely solely on the App for speed limit information
- Recognize that speed limit data may be incomplete, outdated, or incorrect
We are not liable for any accidents, traffic violations, fines, or damages resulting from use of the App.
4. Premium Subscription
Subscription Service: Speed/Limit Premium
Subscription Period: Annual (12 months)
Price: US$9.95 per year (price may vary by region and currency)
Free Trial: New subscribers receive a 1-month (30-day) free trial before being charged
Premium Features Include:
- Full Text-to-Speech voice announcements
- Customizable speed tolerance adjustment (0-15%)
- Per-announcement toggle controls
- Ad-free experience
5. Subscription Terms
- Auto-Renewal: Your subscription automatically renews unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
- Billing: You will be charged through your Google Play or Apple App Store account at confirmation of purchase
- Trial Period: If you do not cancel before the trial ends, you will automatically be charged the subscription fee
- Cancellation: You can cancel your subscription at any time through your Google Play or App Store account settings
- Refunds: Refunds are handled according to Google Play or Apple App Store policies
- Changes to Pricing: We may adjust subscription pricing at any time. Price changes will not affect current subscribers until renewal
6. Account and Data
Optional Account Features: If you choose to create an account in Speed/Limit:
- You may use email/password, Google, Apple, or other supported sign-in providers made available in the app
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your sign-in credentials
- Contribution, leaderboard, and cloud sync features may store account-linked data in our backend services
- Current versions of the app do not submit edits or notes directly to OpenStreetMap
- Earlier versions of the app historically supported direct OpenStreetMap submissions, but that functionality has been removed
7. Privacy
Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand how we collect, use, and protect your information.
Key points:
- Location data is processed locally on your device
- We do not sell your personal data
- Analytics are used to improve the App
- You can opt out of optional features
8. User Responsibilities
You agree to:
- Use the App legally and safely
- Not use the App while driving in a way that causes distraction
- Comply with all local traffic laws
- Not reverse engineer, modify, or attempt to extract source code from the App
- Not use the App for any unlawful purpose
9. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:
- The App is provided "AS IS" without warranties of any kind
- We do not guarantee accuracy of speed limit data
- We are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
- We are not responsible for traffic violations, accidents, or injuries resulting from App use
- Our total liability shall not exceed the amount paid for your subscription (if any)
10. Data Accuracy
Speed limit data is sourced from OpenStreetMap, a crowdsourced mapping platform. We make no guarantees about:
- Accuracy or completeness of speed limit information
- Real-time updates to road conditions or speed limits
- Availability of data in all geographic areas
11. Termination
We reserve the right to:
- Suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time
- Remove or disable features
- Discontinue the App entirely
Upon termination, your subscription will be handled according to store policies (Google Play or App Store).
12. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
13. Intellectual Property
The App and its content (excluding OpenStreetMap data) are owned by Itomic and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. OpenStreetMap data is licensed under the Open Database License (ODbL).
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Australia.
15. Third-Party Services
The App integrates with third-party services:
- OpenStreetMap: Subject to OSM Terms
- Google Play Billing / App Store: Subject to their respective terms
- Firebase: Subject to Google's terms (analytics and crash reporting)

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
18. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Itomic regarding the App.
By using Speed/Limit, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms of Service.
